Rocket Piano: A Look at Online Piano Lessons

Rocket PianoLearning the Piano

The best online piano lesson? The best online piano lessons for adult beginners? Whether you are talking about youth, adults, seniors or playing on a keyboard, learning to play the piano has changed a lot over the past 50 years. Back in the 1970s and 1980s, if you wanted to learn piano, you had to find a teacher and go to lessons every week. You would sit at their piano, use their books, and practice at home with sheet music. Sometimes, a neighbor or family member had a piano that they would share in order to practice. Are you one of those people who provide a piano or keyboard in your home for others to practice? In the 1990’s as computers became popular, some basic learning programs came out, but they were limited in providing a thorough experience. Everything changed when the internet got better in the 2000s. Now people can learn piano online from their own homes. This fits better with how busy people are today. More than ever, people like the flexibility of learning when they want or are available instead of having to stick to a teacher’s schedule.

A Grand PianoPractice the Piano- Way back when…

As a music major in numerous colleges and universities, I noticed some patterns. Voice majors seem to practice 1-2 hours. I am not talking about everyone. There are always exceptions. This was just a general rule. Instrumentalist practiced 2-4 hours a day. Piano majors were in the practice room about 4-6 hours a day. The demands placed on a pianist are incredible. I don’t know how they do it! Treble clef, Bass clef, pedals; and the level of difficulty is incredible. I think many of them must be unhuman or something! Mind you, this level of commitment was to prepare those students to make a living with the piano. Many of the current piano courses now available have keyed-in on a different purpose. That is to have more people enjoy their favorite type of music by playing the piano. This objective can be accomplished in a much less sacrificial and enjoyable manner.

 Rocket Piano: The Beginning

Rocket Piano has been improved by Ruth Searle, who has been teaching piano for 15 years. She knows how to play many different types of music like classical, jazz, rock, pop, blues, and gospel music. Over the years, Rocket Piano has gotten better and added more features. What makes it different from other online piano programs is that it gives you real books to use along with computer files. Most other programs just use apps or websites. Rocket Piano gives you five different books for different skill levels, plus practice tracks, quizzes, and special software tools to help you learn. Does Rocket Piano provide the best online piano lessons?

Online vs. In-Person Lessons

There are several good reasons why Rocket Piano might be better than taking regular piano lessons with a teacher. The biggest advantage is that you can learn whenever you want. You don’t have to worry about making appointments or driving somewhere for lessons. You can practice at 6 AM or 11 PM – it doesn’t matter. You can also learn as fast or as slow as you want. If you don’t understand something, you can go back and study it again. With a regular teacher, once the lesson is over, it’s over. Rocket Piano also offers a tremendous savings over private lessons which usually cost around $30-50 every week. With Rocket Piano, you pay once and get everything that comes with the program.

Rocket Piano Reviews

Many reviews say that Rocket Piano is their favorite online piano program and that it gives you the most for your money. Users like the amount of content that comes with the program which doesn’t cost very much. On the flip side, there have been reviews that report trouble downloading the software, not responding to emails that are requesting a refund, and suggestions for including more popular music. The general consensus, however, is that this program is a great value for the money.

The Cost and Value

Rocket Piano costs $39.95, which you only have to pay once. For that price, you get a lot of materials: five instruction books that teach you from beginner to advanced levels, plus books for jazz and gospel music. You also get audio files that explain important parts of the lessons, practice tracks to play along with, quizzes to test what you’ve learned, a metronome to help keep time, and some special software programs. You can choose to download everything to your computer or have physical books mailed to you, but most people choose to download it. The company says you can get your money back within 8 weeks if you don’t like it.

Rocket Piano Summary

Overall, Rocket Piano is a decent choice for people who want to learn piano without taking traditional lessons. It gives you a lot of material for a low price, and you can learn at your own pace from home. It works best for people who like learning from books and don’t mind teaching themselves. However, you should know that some people have had technical problems and trouble with customer service. If you want a program that feels more like a game or gives you feedback on your playing, you might want to look at other options. But if you’re willing to work hard and learn on your own, Rocket Piano can be a good way to start playing piano without spending a lot of money. Honestly, for $39.95, there is very little to lose and a lot to gain. I’d give it a try! 😊
